The monument was one of the projects ordered by President Sukarno to beautify the city to hoist the 1962 Asian Games.
Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta
The palace was built between 1873 and 1879 by the Dutch. 15 Dutch governor-generals and 3 Japanese commanders ruled from here. In 1949, the agreement to end the Indepenence War was signed here between the Indoneisa founding fatehrs and the Dutch. It then became the home for the frist Indoneisa President and now the venue for presidential meetings and state functions.
