Macao Special Adminstrative Region

Macao is the first colony in Asia when Portugal started administering the island in 1557 and the last when it was handed back to China in 1999. The Historical city centre is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ruins of St Paul's

This is the facade of former cathedral built between 1582 to 1602 and was the largest Catholic church in Asia at that time.

City Centre

The historic city centre is the political and commerical centre of Macao during Portugal's rule.

Historic Centre of Macao- Na Tcha Temple

There are other sites within the Historic Centre of Macao and not in the world heritage list. This temple was built in 1888 to stop a plague at that time. It is located next to the Ruins of St Paul's.
