The Bund Huangpu Park Monument to the People's Heroes

The monument is within Huangpu Park at the confluence of Suzhou Creek and Huangpu River. It was built in 1993 to commenemorate heroes who lost their lives to liberate Shanghai since 1840.

The public park was built on the grounds of the former Shanghai Race Club established by the British in 1862. Horse racing and gambling was banned after the Communist Government took over Shanghai. The northern part of the race course was converted into People's Park whiel the southern paart became the People's Square.

Broadway Mansion hotel and Waibaidu Bridge

Broadway Mansion Hotel was for a few decades after its construction in 1934, the skyscraper and landmark of Shanghai. Waibaidu Bridge, located near the confluence of Suzhou Creek and Huangpu river and constructed in 1904, is China's first steel bridge. The bund is near the other end of the bridge.

Luxun Park

The park was formerly named Hongqiao Park adn renamed Luxun Park in 1988. In the early 1900s, it was the 2nd biggest park in Shanghai.

Lu Xun lived near the park before he passed away in Shanghai in 1936. In 1956, his remains was reinterred in the park. The inscriptions on the tomb was from Chairman Mao and the trees around were planted by Premier Zhou Enlai and Lu Xun's wife.

An ancient temple bulit in 247 AD and shifted to current location in 1216AD during the Northern Song Dynasty.
