Shaanxi Province

Terracotta warriors

The terracotta warriors were discovered in 1974 where farmers were digging for a well during a drought.

The terracotta warriors museum consist of 3 site 3 excavation halls showing terracotta warriors in their original formations.

Hall 1 consist of soldiers and horses in formation and is the most impressive.

The exhibition hall has the individual terracotta warriors on display.

The terracotta warrior shown in the picture is very intertesting. The outline of the warrior is similiar to the map of Shaanxi province today!

Giant Wild Goose Pagoda

The final version of the pagoda was completed in 704AD during the Tang Dynasty. Buddhism sutras brought back from India by Monk Xuanzhang were stored and translated in the pagoda.

The area around the pagoda is now a public square with beautiful musical fountains and laser shows at night.

Yaowang Mountain South Nunnery Statue of Sun Simiao

The mountain has a long history with historic and heritage sites. It is named Yaowang Mountain or Medicine King Mountain in honour of the great medical expert Sum Simiao who lived there in seclusion during the Sui and Tang Dynasty era. South Nunnery is also known as Zhaoyang Nunnery was the place where the Princess Zhaoyang, Aunt of Tang Dynasty Li Shimin, became a nun. This si also teh places where Sun Simiao lived in seclusion and passsed away.
